Knights Crest

This project aims to create a functional prototype of a mobile app and Admin site that adheres to road map design, testing and debugging, and user research.

Project Overview

The app is designed for convenience, offering a solution for situations where a lost or forgotten ID prevents access to various campus facilities. It aims to create a unified platform on smartphones, using barcodes for access to the gym, library, and Knights Cash account.

PROBlem

Our app is being built with convenience in mind. We want to provide an alternative to situations where a lost or forgotten ID stops you from taking the shuttle to class or going to the game.

Initially targeting UCF Downtown with around 7,000 students and 100 faculty members, the plan involves a cost-effective Instagram marketing campaign targeting major UCF Instagram accounts (RWC, Housing, SGA, etc.) and email blasts through the UCF-affiliated email system to promote rapid downloads within the first month of launch.

Objectives

- Our audience is the students and faculty residing at the University of Central Florida looking for more convenient access to their daily campus services.

- Balancing a target budget and suitable design that represents the UCF brand.

- Secure access from administration to users.

Goal

We are creating an app with the ability to function the same as the physical ID card that we carry on a day-to-day basis. This application could limit the amount of time it takes for students to find and or replace their IDs on a yearly basis. We would never look to replace the ID completely, we would be creating another accessible form of what is already available. There would be a faster exchange when using Knights cash, showing identification to ride shuttles, checking out books at the library, and borrowing equipment from campus.
